There is no denying it, Reebok treadmills are a well recognized brand in the fitness equipment industry. All around the world the Reebok name is synonymous with quality sporting products and in the case of Reebok treadmills it is no different.

Interestingly enough the Reebok treadmills are not produced by Reebok as some might think, but instead Icon Health and Fitness, the largest manufacturer of exercise equipment in the world. By teaming up with Icon, Reebok have been able to put their name on some quality treadmills without the huge costs of designing and producing the machines themselves.

Priced at around $1,000-$1,500 they are aimed at the general home gym user or as Reebok say “designed for clubs, made for the home”. Two of the best value treadmills in the range, the Reebok 5500C treadmill and the Reebok 3500C treadmill, have good quality components like a 2-2.5HP motor for a powerful workout and a 20 x 60 inch treadmill belt so you can really stretch out.

The only reservation I have is that a respected treadmill authority stated “there are some serious compromises in component construction” of the Reebok treadmills. When a leading fitness industry expert has this to say about the Reebok range then you sit up and take notice.

Also sometimes you might see a commercial treadmill carrying the Reebok brand name. These treadmills are not made by Icon so keep this in mind if you are looking around. Advantages

Reebok treadmills are well priced for the specification that their treadmills offer. They are also backed up by one of the biggest names in the sporting world. You can be sure that it is not a fly by night outfit.

Disadvantages

The negative comment on the component construction from a leading treadmill authority really concerns me. Also the fact that Reebok is not a treadmill specialist. I prefer to buy and use equipment from companies that make their own equipment and specialize in the fitness equipment industry.

Recommendation

For those die hard Reebok enthusiasts, who am I to tell you not to buy a Reebok treadmill. You cant fault their reputation.

However, personally I wouldnt consider Reebok treadmills. I feel there are a number of better, more fitness equipment specific brands (check out my treadmill ratings and treadmill reviews) to choose from.

If you are thinking of spending this much money you should seriously consider comparing different brands and machines before making a decision.

An interesting phenomenon is happening in the treadmill market these days: a lot of home treadmills are being called commercial grade treadmills. This can be very confusing for the treadmill buyer.

Whats the difference between a commercial grade treadmill a home treadmill, and an actual commercial treadmill?

First of all there are 2 main categories of treadmills: commercial and home treadmills.

Commercial treadmills differ from home treadmills in that they are made for harsher environments, like the gym or health club, and they are built to withstand frequent use. Because of this they are built with a much higher grade of components and subsequently cost more.

For example, most commercial treadmills come with a 4 ply treadbelt instead of the 2 ply treadbelt standard to most home treadmills. They also usually come with a much higher powered motor, built with heavier duty commercial parts.

Commercial treadmill prices are much higher and many of them start at $4000+ whereas home treadmills can range from $400 to $3000.

Heres where it can get confusing: Although there used to be more of a difference between commercial and home treadmills, the line is blurring as more and more people buy commercial grade treadmills for their homes.

Because of this, brands like Landice put out 2 versions of their treadmill lines: the Limited (or LTD) series of treadmills – built for high end home or light commercial use, and the Club series- built for heavy club or gym environments.

And former commercial treadmill brands like Sole, (who have been supplying treadmills to hotels like Hilton for years) are now making their treadmills available to the home market – for a home treadmill price.

These treadmills can truly be called commercial grade meaning they could be used as a commercial treadmill but is mainly suited for the high end home gym.

However Ive noticed that even the cheaper brands of home treadmills are now starting to call their higher end treadmills commercial grade.

This doesnt necessarily mean it is suitable for a health club or even a high end home gym. In my opinion, it simply means that the treadmill was built with heavier grade components than other treadmills in that brands line up. It may still be a great buy if you like that brand name.

However, if I wanted to buy a commercial grade treadmill for my home I would not choose these cheaper brand names – but thats just my preference.

Bottom line? When looking at commercial treadmills for a health club or gym, consider the brand. Make sure it is a well known commercial brand with a solid reputation. Some examples are Landice, LifeFitness and Star Trac.

When looking for a higher end commercial grade treadmill for your home gym, consider a lighter version of a commercial treadmill model or a home treadmill brand that is known for higher end machines. It will serve you just as well and cost you thousands less. For more examples of top rated commercial and commercial grade treadmills visit:

http://www.treadmillreview.net/Article_Commercial_Treadmills.html,

One last note: Keep in mind that commercial treadmills take up a lot more space than home treadmills and theyre also much heavier. They may not fold so make sure you have several strong lifters when you have the treadmill delivered.

Good luck and have fun!

Epic T60 treadmill is a treadmill brand manufactured by Icon Health and Fitness, Inc. Icon basically brought the Epic brand back to life for a few retail chains, the most recognized being Costco. The Epic T60 treadmill is made exclusively for Costco, the discount retailer. Epic T60 treadmill has useful and desirable features for the home gym and for general fitness training.

The Epic T60 treadmill is a popular treadmill and is priced right. However, since the pricing is under $1,000, it wont have quite the ruggedness or solid built construction like some other treadmills on the market, most notably the Smooth treadmill Icon Health and Fitness, Inc. uses Epic brand name on exclusive models of treadmills and markets products like Epic T60 treadmills specifically for large retailers like Costco.

Epic T60 treadmill is a strong machine available at lean price. The Epic T60 treadmill incorporates the best of Icons designs. It is designed for use in the home gym.

Epic T60 treadmill features an adjustable cushioned platform with a large surface and is capable of supporting weights up to 350 pounds. Equipped with a strong motor and power incline, the Epic T60 treadmill is suitable for both light and intense weight loss and fitness regimens, as well as general sports training.

Additionally, feedback and readout displays on the Epic T60 treadmill keeps track of time, distance, calories burned, speed, and pulse measured through the pulse sensor grips. Heart rate is measured and displayed using an optional chest pulse sensor.

The Epic T60 treadmill offers pre-programmed and customizable workout programs and iFit.com, the interactive workout technology found on most Icon exercise equipment. With the optional chest sensor, iFit will control the speed and incline of the treadmill in response to individuals heart rate providing a workout under the guidance of trainers online or on CD. Users home stereo, computer, portable device and VCR can all be connected to the Epic T60 treadmill to keep users entertained while training.

The Epic T60 treadmill can be folder away after use. The warranty period of this treadmill is good. The motor carries a 12 year warranty, frame has a warranty of 15 years and parts & labor carry one year warranty.

The Epic T60 treadmill offers a 3HP commercial grade continuous duty motor, walking deck up to 20″ x 60″, PWM controller, 2-ply commercial belt, adjustable cushion deck, 2 cm MDF with 2-sided phenolic coating, 6.3 cms rollers (front & rear), incline up to 12%, six LED window displays, digital controls, feedback displays to speed, time, distance, incline, calories, pulse, 10 preset programs, 2 pulse programs, 2 use defined programs and 350 lbs user weight capacity.

A couple of concern for the Epic T60 treadmill could be the keypad which seems to give some Icon models trouble. The deck coating in this Epic treadmill model is considered to be thin. Epic T60 treadmill uses the cheaper rollers. Users while buying an Epic T60 treadmill should get an extended warranty from Universal technical Services (UTS).

Epic T60 treadmill is a commercial grade treadmill offering range of features so as to achieve the performance and workout needs of users. Users can achieve their body results and fitness by exercising on the Epic T60 treadmill.

Precor treadmills are synonymous with quality. They have been in the fitness industry for over 20 years and have invested millions into research and development to provide the best quality machines. All their treadmills have long warranties which are a testament to their quality.

Just go down to your local gym and you are bound to see a number of Precor treadmills being battered continuously for hours a day. Just think…if they are good enough for these commercial gyms then you can guarantee that they will stack up in your own home gym.

Although super high quality, Precor treadmills are also quite expensive. You will be lucky pick one up for much less than $3000 so if you are trying to buy a treadmill on the cheap then this may not be the best option for you.

However if you consider all the advantages you get with the trusted Precor brand, you’ll understand why they price these machines as such.

Advantages

Precor treadmills are backed by one of the best warranties around. They offer lifetime warranties on their treadmill frames and welds, 10 years on parts and a year on labor. They use the highest quality materials and their customer testimonials are superb. This just shows how confident the company is with the quality and durability of their treadmills.

Aside from quality, Precor treadmills are also known for being loaded with features. They have powerful motors, wide running surfaces and are very quiet.

Disadvantages

The price is the only disadvantage I can see with these machines. I feel that $3000-$5000 is a lot to pay for a treadmill to be used at home. I believe the Precor name increases the purchase price and unless you are a dedicated runner, have money to spare or know you are going to be using the treadmill often then it might be more than you need.

Some people also say that it is too big. However I feel this is one of its benefits as it adds stability and a long, wide running surface.

Recommendation

Precor manufactures probably one of the highest quality treadmills in the market today, which they back up wholeheartedly as can be seen by the length of their warranties. So, I would recommend buying Precor treadmills but only if you could afford one. It is one of the best in the market right now but at the same time it is also one of the most expensive.

Smooth treadmills, in my opinion are the best buy treadmills anywhere online or off. They pack heaps of features into a durable, quality machine that is priced just right. Anyone who is looking for a treadmill for their home gym or office should seriously consider a Smooth Treadmill.

These treadmills are manufactured by Smooth Fitness who have been around for over 20 years. If you have heard of them it’s because they are predominantly an online only retailer. They come highly recommended by Runner’s World, Prevention Magazine and Treadmill Doctor to name a few.

Because they are an online business they don’t have the same overheads that a normal bricks and mortar business would have. As a result they are able to pass on these savings directly to you the customer.

What does all this mean you might ask…well quite simply “factory direct prices!” There is no middle-man so you save 40% – 45% off the normal retail price.

You could quite easily pay $3000 to $5000 for Smooth treadmills but they are very well priced at between $999 and $2999. There is a treadmill for every budget.

In the low-priced end of the range the Smooth 5.15 treadmill is excellent value for money. This includes a 10 year motor warranty. If you can’t afford this treadmill, I highly recommend saving a bit more until you can. As I’ve said in other articles, you just you can’t expect to pay $500 for a treadmill and get a high quality, durable machine!

The Smooth 7.1 treadmill and Smooth 9.15 treadmill are both great treadmills in their own right. With Treadmill Doctor rating the 7.1 as the “best buy” in the $1000 – $1500 price range and the 9.15 as “one of the best values in the Smooth lineup”

Advantages

Too many to mention here. Including 10 year motor warranty to save you costly repairs, stacks of benefit laden, inbuilt control features, amazing price for people with either cheap or expensive budgets.

Disadvantages

Very few. They do charge extra for inside delivery and setup but at least they offer this service unlike some other companies.

Recommendation

In conclusion, I highly recommend Smooth treadmills. Apart from the extra cost for indoor delivery and set up, Smooth treadmills could probably be one of the “best buy” treadmills on the internet. A true diamond in the rough!

Weslo treadmill is not only making a name for itself in the market, but becoming a part of gyms, fitness clubs and homes. Home fitness and low costs are the two best features of a Weslo treadmill. Weslo treadmill is one of the inexpensive treadmill models available in the market. The low price of Weslo treadmill makes it easy to convince users that they can have a treadmill at home. This can help them avoid heading out to gyms or clubs which demand a handsome amount of fees. Users who have an extremely limited budget can find for themselves a treadmill in the form of a Weslo treadmill for just under $200.

Welso treadmills are the lowest price motorized treadmills available in the market. Weslo treadmills do not have great power or a huge running deck. Weslo treadmills are not aimed at competitive runners. As an affordable and entry level treadmill, Weslo is the best choice. Weslo treadmill is a sensible option for power walkers, recreational joggers and fitness enthusiasts.

Weslo treadmills are produced by Icon health and Fitness, Inc. Of all the treadmills that are produced by Icon Health and Fitness, Weslo treadmills are the lowest priced. Weslo treadmill models cost less than $1000. Infact, some Weslo treadmill models can be purchased at a price of just under $200.

Users can meet their fitness and health goals at a low price with a Weslo treadmill. Weslo treadmill models as compared to other brands cost low and users are not required to spend a lot of money to get what they want out of their home gym.

Weslo treadmill allows users to monitor their fitness accomplishments, such as speed and calories burned. Weslo treadmill has a manual incline that helps individuals to increase their heart rate in stages. Geared towards giving users a comfortable workout, there are four different incline levels in a Weslo treadmill.

Most people buying a treadmill will be probably be faced with the choice: Do I want a folding treadmill or a non-folding treadmill?

Folding treadmills (also called fold-up, foldable and fold-away treadmills) are a popular choice among treadmill buyers.

But apart from the obvious reason to choose a folding treadmill (to save space) – what are the REAL differences between a folding vs. non-folding treadmill? Heres a quick overview:

The main advantages to choosing a folding treadmill are:

- you save space – if you have a small home gym or space is at a premium, folding your treadmill up and/or wheeling it out of sight is a great option to have

- it makes cleaning easier – just fold it up and you can vacuum or clean the floor area under the treadmill easily

Because of these advantages, having a treadmill that folds is often seen as just another added feature to the treadmill – like an extra water bottle holder or a pair of handweights.

However there are also distinct advantages to buying a non-folding treadmill that might make you think twice before purchasing a treadmill that folds.

According to Runners World, the most important quality of a good treadmill is stability. For example, does the treadmill feel solid and secure when you run on it? Does it wobble or shudder when you pick up your pace?

Because of the requirements of the folding frame design, most folding treadmills are naturally less stable than non-folding treadmills. (That doesnt mean they arent stable – it just means that non-folding treadmills are more stable).

That is why, if you look at stability ratings for treadmills, non-folding treadmills almost always come out on top.

Thats also why you’ll notice that as you get into premium treadmills ($2000+), very few of them will fold up.

If youre paying that much for a treadmill you want one that feels as stable as a commercial unit. (Ever notice that the treadmills at health clubs dont fold?)

So the main advantage to non-folding treadmills (and its a compelling one – especially if youre a runner) is that they are generally more stable than folding treadmills.

There are a few exceptions to this rule of course, but thats really the main difference when comparing folding versus non-folding treadmills.

Regardless of which option you choose, keep in mind that while non-folding treadmills might be a little more difficult to move, they can offer some great added benefits to your workout itself.
